Call for Proposals

Supporting Regional Civil Society Organisation Networks/ Non-State Actors in the SADC Region Interested CSO Networks/ NSAs are invited to apply for financial support to implement projects in the following focus thematic areas:
• Anti-corruption and Accountability
• Women Empowerment
• Youth Participation
• Promotion and Protection of Human Rights
• The Rule of Law and Access to Justice
Project Description
The overall objective of the project – which is jointly funded by the European Union and the German Government through the GIZ Strengthening-National Regional Linkages (SNRL) in SADC Programme – is supporting NSAs/CSOs to play a role in facilitating regional dialogues and contributing to regional policies. To this end, it intends to strengthen the role of regional civil society in the monitoring and implementation of the RISDP (2020- 2030) and SADC  vision 2050 by enhancing the capacities of NSAs/CSOs to aggregate
positions, formulate policy recommendations, and to monitor policy implementation at the regional level.
The support will be provided in the following areas: policymaking through advocacy campaigns, policy-based knowledge products (policy briefs, position papers, etc.), capacity development (targeted trainings, seminars, etc.), and promoting cooperation and learning among non-state actors/civil society organizations, academia and research institutions.

Selection Criteria

Are you eligible?
Applicant:
• Must be a Non-State Actor or Civil Society Organisation registered in at least one SADC member state. – Must operate in at least two SADC Member States.
• Has a proven track record of working in at least one of the above five thematic areas in the SADC region. – Must have sufficient organisational and/ or technical capacity to aggregate or formulate policy positions of regional significance.
• Has the ability to absorb additional financial and/or technical assistance from the EU/BMZ of up to 50,000 EUROS. – Must demonstrate how the ‘project idea’ will contribute to the objectives of this Project and will have a sustainable impact over time.
• – Previous working experience with GIZ and/or other international development agencies in SADC context is an advantage.
