DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION OBJECTIVES AND INDICATORS TO SUPPORT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SOUTH AFRICA’S CLIMATE CHANGE ACT

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, through the Climate Support Programme Phase IV (CSPIV), in partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), is seeking to appoint a service provider to develop national climate change adaptation objectives and indicators for South Africa.

This assignment aims to support the implementation of the Climate Change Act No.22 of 2024 by development of valuable tools for monitoring progress towards archiving a just transitions and ensuring development of a M&E systems that will serve as a reference point for measuring and monitoring of progress towards adaptation efforts. The work will involve extensive analysis of existing monitoring data and systems, adaptation objectives and SMART indicator development, alignment with relevant policies, integration into existing national data monitoring system and capacity building to strengthen South Africa’s reporting about climate change adaptation.
