AHRI’s Finance Department is currently recruiting a Financial Reporting and Systems Specialist and an
Accountant to be based in our Durban campus.

FINANCIAL REPORTING AND SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

Overview of Duties:
The Financial Reporting and Systems Specialist will be responsible for executing the objectives of the Finance Department by providing specialist services in financial reporting, investments, assets, insurance, and the financial system. As an integral part of the financial management team within the department of finance, this role provides support to the CFO in ensuring the financial effectiveness of the department and the institute.
Minimum Qualifications:
• BCom Honours Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, CA(SA) Minimum Experience:
• 5 years experience in financial reporting, financial management or senior accounting role
• Experience in preparing financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Asset management and VAT experience
• Experience with a large ERP system
• Functional lead or hands-on experience in managing Workday FIN or equivalent financial system would
be an added advantage.
• Experience in a research or academic and grant environment would be an added advantage.
• Experience with VAT in research or academic institution would be an added advantage.
Skills Required:
• Analytical and strong problem-solving skills are essential.
• Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision making.
• Exceptional communication skills at all levels
• High integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance.
• Energetic, highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit

• Commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful, and influential leader with the
ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
Knowledge Required:
• International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Companies Act, VAT Act and other relevant South African legislation.
• Relevant good business governance

ACCOUNTANT

Overview of duties:
Under limited supervision, the Accountant will be responsible for moderately complex accounting activities
relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports
and financial statements in AHRI. Reports financial results monthly to management to enable appraisal of
actual performance against target/s.
Minimum Qualifications:
• BCom in Accounting
Minimum Experience:
• Minimum 5 years experience in Accountant level or similar
• Strong problem-solving experience is essential.
• SAP/Workday experience.
• Knowledge of relevant South African legislation.
• Knowledge of relevant South African good business governance and accounting regulations and
knowledge on how to best implement these.
