REQUEST FOR BIDS
TENDER NO: SACU/008/2026/PB – ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF THE AfCFTA ON SACU MEMBER STATES
The SACU Secretariat invites proposals from suitably qualified, experienced, and reputable consultants or consultancy firms to undertake
an assessment of the effects of deepening the AfCFTA to a level of a Customs Union. The SACU Secretariat, therefore, wishes to engage
Consultant(s) to undertake an assessment of the readiness and impact of the AfCFTA progressing to a Customs Union (and the adopting of a
suitable CET).
The study will assess the impact of trade agreements and economic shocks on SACU Member States’ GDP, net welfare, employment, trade
flows, the CET and the CRP in alignment with the SACU Strategic Plan (2022–2027) using the appropriate methodologies for policy analysis.
It will also examine the legal, governance and policy requirements for a successful continental African Customs Union.
